Manasarovar
Location: 30 km southeast of Kailash.
Altitude: nearly 4588 meters.
Property: one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world, which means “eternal and invincible Jasper Lake” in Tibetan.
Features: It is one of the most famous lakes in Asia and even the whole world, and it is also a holy lake recognized by many religions.
Lake Manasarovar:Lake Manasarovar is located about 35.0 km northeast of Pulan County, Ngari Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, and adjacent to Laangtso in the west, between latitude 30°34 ‘-30 °47’ north and longitude 81°22 ‘-81 °27’ east. It is 26.0 km long, with a maximum width of 21.0 km, an average width of 15.84 km and an area of 412.0 square km.Manasarovar was originally an outflow lake, but later became an inland lake due to floods in front of the Gangdises Mountains and the accumulation of ice water, which blocked the valley.
Namtso
Location: in the middle of Tibet Autonomous Region.
Altitude: 4718 m.
Property: the second largest lake in Tibet and the third largest saltwater lake in China.
Features: Tibetan language means “Tianhu”, is the ancient Xiangxiong Buddha Yongzhong the first sacred lake, the famous Buddhist holy land.
Namtso Lake: Namtso is located in Damxiong County, Lhasa City, about 240 kilometers away from Lhasa City, Namtso is the second largest lake in Tibet, but also the third largest saltwater lake in China, Namtso in Tibetan language means “sky lake”, known as a tear on the surface of the earth, the lake is clear and bright, water and sky color, is the end of the beauty of Tibet!
Yamdrok Lake
Location: located in Gongga County and Longkazi County, Shannan City, Tibet Autonomous Region.
Altitude: 4441 m.
Property: the largest enclosed inland lake in southern Tibetan Plateau.
Features: Tibetan language means “Jasper Lake”, lake bird island and bird numbers are rare in the country, surrounded by year-round insoluble snow mountains and ice peaks.
Yamdrok Lake is located in Gongga County and Langkazi County, Shannan City, Tibet Autonomous Region, next to 307 Provincial Highway Yanghu Scenic spot. Yamdrok Lake is the largest enclosed inland lake in the southern Tibetan Plateau. With an altitude of 4,441 meters, the lake covers an area of 638 square kilometers with an average depth of 23.6 meters and a water storage capacity of 16 cubic kilometers.
