8 Days Lhasa-Nyingchi-Laigu Glacier Group Tour (G11)

Our Tibetan guide and driver will greet you at the airport or train station and present you with a Kada (the traditional Tibetan ceremonial white scarf) to Welcome you to Tibet :) Then will be drive around 40-50 minutes to Lhasa city if you take plane to Lhasa or drive 20 minutes to Lhasa city if you board train to Lhasa and transferred to your hotel. Along the way, you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lhasa River, and the typical Tibetan villages and highland barley seeds farms.

Later your guide will introduce you to the other members of your group once all are in Lhasa. And will discuss about tour schedule in Tibet. Then will show you some of local, Chinese and continental dish restaurants for the dinner. On your arrival of the first day must be take an easy, relax and keep hydrated by drinking warm water or home temperature water. Will be very helpful to acclimatize to the high altitude.

Attraction: Drepung Monastery, Norbulingka, Tibet Museum

In the morning, you are heading to Drepung Monastery, which means Monastery of Rice Heap in the Tibetan language. The entire monastery is large in scale and the white buildings cluster and cover the hillsides. Drepung monastery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, with more than 10,000 monks at its peak. The first to the fifth Dalai Lamas have held enthronement ceremonies in Drepung Monastery, and all Dalai Lamas have Drepung Monastery as their “mother temple”, so it is also the highest-ranking monastery in the Gelug Sect.

In the afternoon, we will visit Norbulingka, which is a typical Tibetan-style royal garden, the summer resort of the Dalai Lama. There are a lot of towering trees, exotic flowers and plants in the garden, as well as many collections of cultural relics, Buddha statues, pagodas, thangkas, murals, etc. They are all very precious treasures.

Next, we’ll go to the Tibet Museum near Norbulingka, which is the only national first-class museum in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The exhibition hall is composed of 4 major parts: prehistoric culture, inseparable history, culture and art, and folk culture. The collection is rich in cultural relics with strong characteristics, including various relics of prehistoric culture, statues of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of various textures and shapes, important historical objects, exquisite ancient Tibetan books, thangkas, ethnic handicrafts and costumes, etc., which fully demonstrate the historical development and cultural landscape of Tibet.

Attraction: Potala Palace, Jokhang temple and Bakhor Street;

Today, you will visit the most famous Potala Palace, which is the cardinal landmark of Tibet and the masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. Potala Palace was the winter palace of successive Dalai lamas. In possession of rich cultural heritage, Potala Palace is known as the "pearl on the roof of the world."

At the top the palace called golden roofs, you can have a bird-eye view of the whole of Lhasa. In the distance there are undulating mountain ranges, the beautiful Lhasa River, tracts of fields, tree-shaded villages and the glistening Jokhang Temple.

At noon, the tour guide will bring you to a good restaurant to have lunch and have a rest. In the afternoon, we will go to visit Jokhang Temple in the center of the Lhasa old town. Jokhang Temple is the most sacred temple in Tibet and it is always bustling with earnest local pilgrims since the early days. After that, you will take a walk around the Barkhor Street - one of the most devotional circuits as well as a crowded central market of Lhasa. Barkhor Street is a very ancient round street surrounding the Jokhang Temple and the locals are always proud of it. As a symbol of Lhasa, it‘s also a must-see place for visitors.

Attraction: Basum Tso Lake

In the morning, we depart from Lhasa and embark on a scenic drive to Nyingchi, known as "Tibet's Switzerland" for its lush landscapes. The journey takes us through breathtaking valleys, alongside the turquoise Nyang River, and over the majestic Mila Mountain Pass (5,013m), offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks.

Our destination is the enchanting Basum Tso Lake, a hidden gem nestled amid dense forests and towering mountains. Known as the "Pearl of the Plateau," its crystal-clear waters mirror the surrounding peaks and sky, creating a picture-perfect scene. We’ll take a leisurely walk along the lakeshore, visit the quaint Tsozong Gongba Monastery on a small island, and soak in the serene atmosphere. The area is also rich in biodiversity, with chances to spot rare birds and wildlife.

In the late afternoon, we continue to Nyingchi town, where milder altitudes (around 3,000m) and oxygen-rich air provide a comfortable respite. The day concludes with a restful stay, preparing for more alpine wonders ahead.

Attraction: Sergyila Pass, Lulang Forest Sea, Tibetan village

The day begins with an exhilarating ascent to Sergyila Pass (4,728m), where on clear days we'll be rewarded with distant views of Mount Namcha Barwa (7,782m) - the "Shy Mountain" of Tibet. This sacred peak, rarely visible due to frequent clouds, reveals its pyramid-shaped summit when weather permits.

Descending through winding mountain roads, we can also enjoy the magical Forest Sea. Here, pristine alpine forests create a fairy-tale landscape, with towering pines shrouded in mist and crystal-clear streams meandering through valleys. The air is filled with the refreshing scent of spruce and rhododendrons.

Our journey continues downhill to the local Tibetan village, called Tashigang, where seasonal blooms transform the meadows into colorful carpets. We'll take time to stroll through the flower fields, visit local Tibetan herdsmen's wooden houses, and perhaps enjoy a cup of butter tea while admiring the pastoral scenery.

The day concludes with arrival in Bomi County (2,750m), where the lower altitude offers comfortable accommodation after our high-mountain adventures. Tomorrow brings even more spectacular landscapes as we approach the glacial wonders of eastern Tibet.

Attraction: Laigu Glacier

The morning begins with a scenic drive from Bomi through the stunning Parlung Tsangpo Valley, where towering peaks and cascading glaciers line the route. As we approach the magnificent Laigu Glacier, you'll witness one of Tibet's most spectacular natural wonders - a massive river of ancient blue ice flowing down from the surrounding mountains. Walking along the viewing areas, you can admire the glacier's intricate ice formations and listen to the occasional thunderous cracks as the ice shifts and moves.

After immersing ourselves in the glacier's breathtaking beauty, we continue our journey to the picturesque Ranwu Lake, whose crystal-clear waters perfectly reflect the surrounding snow-capped peaks. The drive offers continuous panoramic views of the Himalayan landscape, with every turn revealing new vistas of rugged mountains and pristine valleys. We arrive in Ranwu Town by late afternoon, where you can relax and reflect on the day's incredible glacial encounters while enjoying the peaceful ambiance of this charming lakeside settlement.

As evening falls, the crisp mountain air and star-filled sky create a magical atmosphere, perfectly capping off our day of exploring one of Tibet's most awe-inspiring natural attractions. Tomorrow's journey promises to reveal even more of eastern Tibet's stunning landscapes as we continue deeper into this remarkable region.

Today's journey is a visual feast as we travel from Ranwu back to the picturesque Lulang Town. While this is primarily a transfer day, the route itself is the attraction - offering some of the most breathtaking landscapes in eastern Tibet.

As your Tibetan journey draws to a close, we savor the final morning with a peaceful stroll through the enchanting Lulang Forest. The towering ancient pines stand like silent guardians, their branches draped with flowing wisps of lichen known locally as "ghost beards." Sunlight filters through the canopy, illuminating the soft forest floor as we meander along gentle trails. The crisp mountain air carries the refreshing scent of pine, while the occasional birdsong accompanies our walk through this magical woodland.

Following our forest immersion, we return to town for a leisurely lunch before beginning the scenic transfer to Nyingchi Mainling Airport. The drive winds through picturesque landscapes - past terraced fields tended by Tibetan farmers, alongside the turquoise waters of the Nyang River, and through villages adorned with colorful prayer flags that flutter in the mountain breeze.
